Picture of Dr.Lique Coolen, Vice President of Research  Dr. Lique Coolen serves as   Vice President for Research overseeing all research activities and funding   across New Mexico Tech, including ten Research Centers, sponsored projects, research safety and   compliance, and   tech transfer and commercialization. Since August 2025 she also serves as Provost and   Vice  President for   Academic affairs at New Mexico, overseeing all academic programs and faculty affairs. In addition, she served as Assistant Director of the Brain Health Research Institute at Kent State University where she developed and directed a neuro-imagining core facility and undergraduate student research program. she previously served as Associate Dean of Research and Faculty Development, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, director of the School of Biomedical Sciences, director of the Office of Postdoctoral Studies at Kent State University, and Associate Dean of Postdoctoral and Professional Development and director of Research Development at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

We’re proud to share that Carlos Rey Romero, Associate Vice President for Research at New Mexico ... Dr.Carlos Rey Romero is the Associate VP for Research at New   Mexico Tech and principal deputy to the Vice   President for   Research and Economic Development. A senior higher education leader with over 20 years of   experience, he has overseen research   programs, compliance, financial operations, and partnerships with   government and industry. Romero is known for strengthening institutions during transitions and previously   held leadership roles at the University of New Mexico and the New Mexico Finance Authority. The Office of   Research at New Mexico Tech promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and supports researchers with funding, expertise, and specialized services and facilities.
